I have been a Monrovia resident for thirty-four years. I have been an educator for thirty-three years. My passion in education has been fueled by the moral imperative to cultivate a public school system that functions with collaboration, positive restorative practices, and collative action.
The majority of my years working with students has been in Monrovia. I served for twenty years in the Monrovia Unified School District. Initially, I was a classroom teacher at Clifton Middle School before transferring to Monrovia High School in 1992. While working at Monrovia High, I transitioned from the classroom to administration as Activities Director. In 2002, I became Assistant Principal. In 2008, I was appointed Principal of Clifton Middle School.
My commitment to children has taken me across California. I served as Principal of Gompers Middle School in South Los Angeles. I then headed North, and served as Principal of a middle school in a rural migrant community in the central coast. I recently retired as Principal of Morningside High School in Inglewood.
I am looking forward to continuing my service as an educator by seeking a seat on the MUSD Governing Board. Being a member of the MUSD Governing Board will provide me an opportunity to use my expertise and expand my sphere of service from individual school sites to an entire school system. With your vote I will bring experience, integrity, and inclusivity.
